For Adam Alessi, drawing is a mandatory daily ritual—less a preparatory act for painting, and more a space of pure expression, unconcerned with outcome. Each drawing carves out a moment of presence, diaristic in nature, shaped as much by impulse as by limitation. Bound by the constraints of travel, materials are dictated by circumstance: whatever paper is at hand, whatever tools are within reach. The result is a body of work marked by environmental collaboration—paper warped by humidity, a corner torn by transit, traces of a termite’s hunger. Alessi’s unfiltered imagery flows directly from mind to surface, meeting the physical world in all its unpredictability. These selected drawings represent not isolated artifacts, but fragments of a near-infinite archive—each one a window into a regenerative, exploratory practice.
